“In the place where once we used to build weapons, today we produce culture and creativity”
“In the place where once we used to build weapons, today we produce culture and creativity”, said Cristina Tajani, the Councillor for Employment Policy, Economic Development, Fashion and Design, referring to the project for the redevelopment of the former Ansaldo, a project on which she worked during the recent months along with a group of associations: Arci Milano, Avanzi, Esterni, H+, Make a Cube3.
“Base. A place for cultural progress” is an international wide-ranging project but also closely linked to the city of Milan, intended to create a space in which to develop ideas, projects and productions. 6.000 sm entirely available for creative and cultural workshops, business incubators, co-working areas, theatre, literary events and music festivals in order to interpret the contemporary languages.
For this reason, the associations together with the Municipality of Milan decided to give way to an open call to become partners in the project or propose new ideas. The “call to action” is aimed at businesses, NGOs, free Italian and foreign professionals. It is already official the presence of a special tenant: the Wikimedia foundation, which will move from Monza to the Ex-Ansaldo. The opening is scheduled for March 30, 2016, a few days before Fuorisalone 2016.
The Base project, as the name suggests, “is a new beginning, a new form of language to be created from scratch. Dream and reality that come together”.
