The best Foundation
Like every year, 2016 began with the announcement of the Wallpaper Design Awards. A celebration of characters, places, projects that have made the world a better place in the last year. This year also Milan became famous: Fondazione Prada won the “Best New Public Building” award. After 10 years of work on last May Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli, with the Dutch studio OMA, finally opened the doors of the Foundation. The complex is located in an old industrial area south of the city and comes to life living up all the expectations held of it. The ambitious project - divided into 10 different structures that extend over 19,000 square meters - offers a selection of modern and contemporary art and is set up as an intriguing assortment of different styles, creative themes, different artistic periods and majestic volumes. Last but not least, the Bar Luce: designed by the director Wes Anderson, it recreates the atmosphere of a café of the old Milan with a truly cinematic touch in colours and layouts.
