New Talent: Simone Simonelli
Multidisciplinary designer, who trained at the Poltecnico di Milan. After a research period of six years as part of the digital fabrication at the Free University of Bolzano, in 2015 Simone Simonelli founded Associato Misto, a studio that uses design as a strategic tool for innovation.
What does the Fuorisalone represent for you?
It is fun to answer that question right up to you, because I began to live the Fuorisalone when I was a student of the Politecnico thanks to the first editions of the site. I was one of the reporters. Today I live far away from Milan and it represents a link with the city and above all a way to see friends and colleagues I do not see much during the year.
How do you prepare yourself for this event?
Apart from the anxiety and stress of the deliveries, you have to find someone who will host you and rent a scooter.
What is the strangest thing that happened to you during a Milan Design Week?
I will never forget the parties at BLITZ in Bovisa, something strange always happened.
Your event or product that has been the most successful at Fuorisalone.
The events that I curated with Claudio Larcher and Steffen Kaz in Ventura area for the Free University of Bolzano have been a great success because they led to the public the reality of the small but efficient Faculty of Design and Arts of Bolzano.
What will you present at the next edition and where?
This year I take a break, at least for Salone del Mobile. Recently we have been working on the theme Internet of Things and smart objects and they definitely find little space in the week of Salone del Mobile. Not to be missed at Design Week 2016…. Galleria Subalterno, there will be pleasant surprises.
