What is Fuorisalone for you?
Five days of frenzy and energy in which to (re)discover the beauty of Milan and the people who live there. Once a year the world comes here to show, tell and discuss, it's really a special moment for designers.
How do you get ready for this event?
We work all year long to get ready for Fuorisalone and inevitably the last few months are always a bit crazy to make sure that everything is in its place. And when the party begins we try to take the best and have fun.
What do you remember of your first Fuorisalone?
Our first participation was in 2010 and it happened by coincidence. They have provided us with a huge space at Nhow Hotel in Via Tortona five days before the start of the Design Week and they asked us if we felt like coming up with something. We have created a kind of landscape of 1500 balloons each mounted at a different height. A demanding task but the result was truly incredible.
The strangest thing that happened to you during a Milan Design Week.
Every year many strange episodes happen because we meet friends who have moved abroad and is an opportunity to party together. Last year one of the most amazing things was to be invited by Meritalia at the concert by Gino Paoli in their showroom in via Durini.
What is the most important thing you’ve learned at Fuorisalone?
We believe that we can read Fuorisalone in many different ways: you can learn from the work presented by other designers and you can learn a lot from the way companies present themselves and set up their spaces. But perhaps the most important thing to understand is that, although it is a big party, it needs a very serious and meticulous work in order to properly work.
What do you present to the next edition, and where?
In the cloister of the Oratory of San Marco (via San Marco 2) we present our collaboration with Grandinetti, an historical company of cement tiles and grit tiles. At the fair we will be at Hall 8 Stand D35 with Moyo, an outdoor chair we designed for Chairs&More. In via Santo Spirito, at the De Vecchi showroom we will unveil the new finishes of the collection 273. Finally we will present a collection of lamps designed for Nilufar Gallery, we will be both in the historic headquarters in Via della Spiga and at Nilufar Depot in Viale Lancetti.
