New Talent: Segno Italiano
Winner of the Milan Design Award 2015 with “Il sentiero dei nidi di ragno” at Fuorisalone last year, Domenico Rocca is the co-founder of Segno Italiano, the brand founded in 2010 together with Alberto Nespoli, as a result of their studies at Politecnico di Milano and their vocational experiences.
What is for you Fuorisalone?
Fuorisalone is for me and for my brand the maximum time of exchange and comparison with sector operators, customers and fans. There we build job opportunities, new knowledge and we let ourselves be inebriated by the transformation of the city, devoted to the design for a week from all over the world.
How do you get yourself ready for this event?
I take hearty breakfasts to get myself ready for intense days and nights.
The strangest thing that happened to you during a Milan Design Week.
The strangest thing was to start with Segno Italiano and to be for the first time in 2010 in a special time where Brera Design District was born. Unforgettable.
The key thing you discovered or learned at Fuorisalone?
I found out that thanks to Fuorisalone Milan becomes, if only for a week, the world capital of design. We dictate styles, guidelines, creativity and lifestyle better than any other city in the world.
What do you present at the next edition and where?
The collaboration between Segno Italiano Antonio Marras goes on. Together we will realize a temporary restaurant in his showroom. With Creative Academy and Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri D'arte, we will present a project related to wellness, natural sponges from the Mediterranean, honeycomb soaps and fabric. We will participate to the project “Doppia firma” made by Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri D’arte and Living, thanks to the support of Yoox.
