Ventura Centrale: from station to station
Within the panorama of Fuorisalone, Ventura Lambrate has gradually become a synonym of non-conventional, spontaneous and surreal creativity with its many brands, emerging designers and international schools. Ventura Projects, founded and directed by Margriet Vollenberg, has been managing the activities of the district since 2010, including some trips to London, Berlin and New York.
From 4th to 9th April 2017 Lambrate will take a short yet surprising journey, splitting in two under the Stazione Centrale. Indeed, besides the classical events taking place in the east of Milan, from this year on Ventura Projects will manage an almost mythical place: the tunnels underlying the Station. For many this is just a promise that was finally kept, as the 116 spaces at issue, almost unused, have been for decades at the centre of debates and projects that were never realised. The local residents still remember stores and warehouses, but in spring something new will finally start between street numbers 15 and 21 in via Ferrante Aporti. A small start, but full of big names.
The first restored spaces open to the public will see the performance of Lee Broom, Maarten Baas by Lensvelt, Baars & Bloemhoff and Salviati in collaboration with Ben Gorham and Luca Nichetto. These are some of the names for now, but more will join later.
