MINDCRAFT17: Denmark at the Cloister of San Simpliciano
It’s been ten years that the Danish Arts Foundation organizes Mindcraft, the Milan Design Week event that presents to the international public the most important talents of Danish crafts and design.
The curator of this important edition is the eclectic designer Henrik Vibskov who has chosen the theme of time to speak of Danish creativity today, between craft and design. The idea was generated directly from the choice of this year’s location: in fact, for the first time, Mindcraft will be held in the beautiful Cloister of San Simpliciano, an evocative and timeless place. All the 18 designers and craftsmen involved were invited to create Ad hoc projects for the exhibition, focusing on a moment of the of day or on a specific time frame.
As pointed out by Henrik Vibskov ''Time has a strong presence at the exhibition site. The cloister appears as a beautiful pocket in time in a bustling city, and one senses the rhythm and atmosphere of the place, as it fluctuates with the varying light throughout the day. Moreover, time is something we use to structure our everyday life and world on many levels.''
The participants to Mindcraft17 are Tobias Møhl, Yuki Ferdinandsen, Eske Rex & Maria Mengel, Birk Marcus Hansen, Emil Krøyer & Mads Sætter-Lassen, Anne Dorthe Vester & Maria Bruun, Kasper Kjeldgaard, Lærke Valum, Marianne Eriksen Scott-Hansen, Isabel Berglund, Hanne G, Anders Ruhwald, Christina Schou Christensen, Pernille Pontoppidan Pedersen and Carl Emil Jacobsen.
