Over 90 events are planned, including exhibitions, parties and site-specific installations. To make sure you don’t get lost, we’ll provide signs, banners, a map, bunting, a website with a detailed guide, an augmented reality app and two info points at Pelota and in Piazza XXV Aprile, powered by ASUS technology. And two recommended tours on top of that. The first is a Food Tour of the local restaurants. The other is a journey around Brera’s Artisanal Workshops, organised with the support of the Unione Artigiani (the Artisan Union).
The common theme for this 2013 edition is reflection on Artisanal Doing and Industrial Thinking, values shared by all the participants. Because while Brera Design District is a mix of elegant boutiques and art galleries, of manufacturers and large design showrooms, it is above all a mix of people who have found the perfect recipe to tackle the demands of a new market in the quality of their ‘doing’ .
And for getting around, why not try a Honda, perhaps the CR-V or the Civic. And if, after all that, you’ve still got enough energy to party, head to Martini in Corso Garibaldi 65. And then, the big one, the Brera Design Night, on Friday 12 April with lots of parties and showrooms open until midnight.
And now, comfy shoes and maps at the ready! Don’t miss Marco Zanuso. Design, Technique and Industry, an exhibition dedicated to an Italian master of design, at the Ordine degli Architetti di Milano, or the master craftsmen of Being Valcucine who will be demonstrating the synergy between manual skill and the industrial process with practical workshops. Go and discover InclinART by Presotto Italia, at the Spazio Fiorchiari, a furniture system designed by Pierangelo Sciuto and inspired by the world of art. And the limited edition collection LoopArt – Second Glace by artist Ebon Heart, for Villeroy & Boch, which mixes painting and industrial design. Or hunt out the handmade collection pieces, by Memphis/Post Design, on display at the Undestate gallery and Post Design, such as wooden and concrete furnishings from the Attraverso series by Giacomo Moor. And the new artisanal coatings for Oikos doors in oak and cement and glass and mosaic, overlooking Carlo Scarpa’s work.
And there are still many more must-see events.
