illycaffè presents a live performance, with active participation of the audience, by artist Max Petrone who will create Coffee Drawings, an artwork in multiple sessions inspired by coffee. On top of it, illycaffè will present the new illy Art Collection by Max Petrone.
illycaffè presents Coffee Drawings, a live performance by the artist Max Petrone, a concept inspired by coffee developed in multiple sessions. In a space of the Triennale, transformed into an artist’s studio for the event, Petrone will tell stories that may be inspired by a coffee stain, using a painting technique based on spontaneity, on the absence of definite parameters, on the beauty and correctness of the very first brushstroke. Multiple characters will come to life on large canvases, in a story that starts by chance and continues through the spectators’ interpretation.
The protagonists of Petrone’s tales embark on an adventurous quest for something and explore their different worlds to find it, each with their own path to follow.
In order for their stories to continue, they need the time and the imagination of the spectators, who have the chance to experience the narration, perhaps while sipping their coffee.
Visitors are welcome to leave their mark on sheets of paper stained with coffee, letting their own stories interact with the artist’s.
The artist’s studio becomes the showcase of the new illy Art Collection, signed by Max Petrone. The new series of coffee cups and mugs, that has celebrated the bond between illycaffè and the art world for the past 25 years, will be presented during Milan Design Week and will be launched on the market in the following days.
