BREAK THE BIAS - FOR CHERISHING THE CONNECTION

We live in an increasingly VUCA world. While the world was predictable and the future could be planned, today we are involved in a sudden unpredictability. We believe that breaking prejudice is necessary to create a better society. But we will not be satisfied just by breaking our prejudice, we want to find connections behind them. The works on display are prototypes of ideas for a better world that goes beyond our prejudice.

The Graduate School of System Design and Management of Keio University (also known as Keio SDM in Kohoku-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan) will participate in one of the largest design festivals in the world, the Salone del Mobile (Milan Design Week 2019) which will take place in Milan, Italy, from Tuesday 9 April until Sunday 14 April 2019. It will be our fifth consecutive year of participation, after Salone Satellite in 2015, the University's exposure as a single entity in 2016 in the district of Tortona, an exhibition at Superstudio in the heart of the Show in 2017, and the last presence of the graduates of Keio SDM and the associated companies in 2018. In an increasingly unpredictable and unstable world, flexible mentality and innovation are more necessary than ever . In this chaotic age, our progress is often limited by prejudice. For this occasion, under the theme of "Break the Bias", groups of 4 students each from Keio SDM will participate in the Salone del Mobile in Milan. On this occasion they will present their solutions to build and cultivate new and better relationships with people and society, breaking and prevailing over preconceptions and prejudices that we may not pay attention to in everyday life. Through our participation in the Show, we hope to expand as much as possible the awareness of the problem-solving potential of a system design education based on system engineering.
