"Equilibri Sospesi" by Massimo Volontè
8-14 April 2019
Opening of the solo exhibition of the paintings of Massimo Volonté "Suspended balances” dedicated to the city and urban forms of architecture.
From April 9th to 28th 2019 the Hoepli Bookstore will host, in the exhibition space of the second floor, the solo exhibition of the paintings of Massimo Volonté, "Suspended balances” dedicated to the city and urban forms of architecture.
The exhibition includes a triptych and a diptych that represent the artist's largest works, which in this case uses a large space to represent pieces of the city, and smaller works in some cases part of private collections. Massimo Volonté is an architect, engaged in the definition of Haute Couture Retail working in Milan, Paris, Florence and New York for 15 years. He usually paints in Como and in Florence. The references of the visual imaginary of his works can be traced back to the architectural works of Terragni, present in the urban daily life of Como, Del Pezzo, Casorati, Sironi, De Chirico, and Morandi. Massimo Volonté's works seem to quote Ernst H. Gombrich: "Our universe is never amorphous; it is rather an architecture, or at least a structure, in which, however, the main lines of force are still bent and forged by our biological and psychological existences, even if these needs seem to be covered by a thick layer of culture"*
