Designing The Complexity - Global Village
9-14 April 2019
“Future Projects” by GLOBAL VILLAGE is part of the “Designing the Complexity” project, consisting of a series of events and travelling exhibitions on the theme of design, which extends from urban planning to architecture, from interior design to product design.
MILAN, 9-14 APRIL 2019: “Future Projects” represents the third episode of the GLOBAL VILLAGE Exhibition by Studio Marco Piva, on the occasion of the Milan design week.
“Future Projects” will be hosted on the ground floor of the prestigious Palazzo Kiton, in Via Pontaccio 21, a building which was a real temple of fashion already in the 1990s and is now home to the haute couture brand Kiton as well as being one of the most coveted locations to host exhibitions and events of high cultural value.
As a starting point – or as a point of arrival – of the Brera District path, the exhibition will include a selection of projects being developed by Studio Marco Piva in an attempt to illustrate their ability to present themselves as stories to tell, as well as to highlight the transversal approach of the “design making” system, characterised by a strong Italian influence but also open to explore project territories around the world.
The exhibition starts with a sensory experience by IGV Group, a leading company in the design and manufacturing of lifts and lifting platforms, which will display two DomusLift XS, the smallest and most compact homelift available on the market, joined together by an aerial walkway: one is a panoramic glass model while the other is a white steel monolith. The narrative path continues with video walls that show the different phases of design, project development, selection of materials, engineering and construction, up to the final result (in this case, scale reproductions of the main architectural projects on which Studio Marco Piva is working), that characterise each project.
The exhibition will also be an opportunity to show for the first time two new products designed by Architect Marco Piva, the YAN lamps designed for Penta Light and the X Files doors for Bencore®.
There will also be Rivaluxe windows and doors designed to meet the most complex design needs.
The setting allows visitors to explore the many themes and areas of design addressed by Studio Marco Piva with methodological consistency and full freedom of expression in very different countries and cultural contexts, reflecting the value represented by the Italian historical and cultural heritage, whose ability to interpret places and cultures is one of its most priceless assets.
