Aesthetic nature and design for the new Alpi 2018 collections

Based on a constructive and harmonious relationship with nature, the new ALPI collections explore the natural environment, shifting beyond the identity of wood to expand the company’s aesthetic vision and to propose new conceptual dimensions defined by material and cultural qualities and a unique design approach.

Nature is seen as a dimension that calls for listening, aesthetic contemplation, as the manifestation of a natural system of signs that can give rise to a game of fluid reflections, material contrasts and fascinating colors.

The natural element is thus the focus of investigation in the new collaboration with the design duo GamFratesi, who have taken their inspiration from ukiyo-e, the Japanese art genre that produced woodblock prints and paintings, reflecting on the movement and interaction of material to reproduce an instant from nature, in the new creations Rain and Cloudy.

In the preview of new developments for 2018, ALPI presents the new wood Cloudy.       
Fascinated by the beauty of clouds, their elusive, fleeting forms and constantly varied nuances, GamFratesi have created the design for the new wood named Cloudy, revealing the patterns of these elements transformed into graphic signs on a black canvas.   
Images of an idealized reality that seduces with its visual poetry, the light, delicate pattern of Cloudy is conveyed by the contrast of the black background with intervals of ivory stripes, suggesting the evocative visions of Japanese works belonging to a faraway floating world.  
An impressionistic vision of nature, the result of the encounter between the conceptual path of the Denmark-based duo and the formal and stylistic research of ALPI, to put an instant of nature into focus, reproducing it in terms of a fluid minimalist language.                   

To accompany the collaboration with GamFratesi, once again this year the art director of the company Piero Lissoni offers his own personal interpretation of the identity of wood, exploring its various structural variants to create new stylistic content thanks to ALPI’s ability to create products that permit great creative freedom in the use of this material.

A new narrative of the expressive and aesthetic languages of ALPI woods, through exclusive collaborations and projects that become expressions of profound industrial and design culture, generating products that respond to the values and necessities of the world of design.
