The designer shows her novel creations in the course of the exhibition A PATTERN DIALOG, curated around motifs such as the use of pattern and structure.
The quite outstanding highlights are the ceiling element as well as the wall element, composed of a myriad of hexagonal sound absorbers which piece together a large honeycomb structure. The object is the result of the collaboration between the acoustic expert YDOL, the wood manufacturer Schotten & Hansen and Nina Mair. Micro perforated wooden panels are combined with highly effective YDOL sound absorbers covered with merino wool. The size of the object can be individually adapted depending on the needs and size of the space. The combinations of materials reaching from the refined wooden surface, to the smooth merino wool fabric guarantee a cosy atmosphere.
The pivotal subject-matter of the exhibition is the pattern. With great care and attention to detail, Nina Mair developed a bold composition of ten objects that all distinguish themselves through specific structures and patterns. Showcased among others are the Oscar shelf, the many-legged seating bench Millipede, Concrete floor tiles and the Miss Marble table. The familiar subtle design vocabulary of the designer undergoes a particular intensity through the filigreed use of pattern.
