During Salone, MUJI will be presenting MUJICucina in honour of Eurocucina: an interactive culinary experience and installation at the Via Torino store, inspired by the brand’s commitment to the natural world through both its sustainable practices and passion for the raw beauty of nature. For the MUJICucina project, MUJI was inspired by the beauty and simplicity of the forest, which helped to create an ephemeral and engaging exhibition.  

On the ground floor, MUJI invited Milan-based Japanese chef Yoji Tokuyoshi, owner of Tokuyoshi and a protégé of chef Massimo Bottura to create The Floating Forest. The Floating Forest is a hanging artwork of moss, wild plants, bulbs, Italian greens and elements such as hazel branches, spherical kokedama, small cyclamen plants and primroses that mark the arrival of spring in the Italian undergrowth.  

The second installation at MUJI’s Via Torino store is The MUJI Dining Table, a beautifully set tablescape created by Chef Tokuyoshi in the store’s lower level. The MUJI Dining Table will incorporate vibrant colours to imitate the chef’s fun culinary style and will also incorporate the natural ephemera used in the suspended piece upstairs. The dining table will be a lush, striking illustration of MUJI’s full range of tableware and serving pieces, which demonstrates how their minimal charm can be a backdrop for a dramatic table setting.

The Japanese retailer is bringing curry, risotto, pasta and more to stores in Europe and the UK for the first time this summer. Visitors will have the opportunity to try them during Milan Design Week with daily tastings at the Via Torino store from 13:00pm-14:00pm, Tuesday to Friday.

MUJI Foods are a huge hit with young professionals in Japan offering a quick meal of curries, pastas and risottos that can be made in under 15 minutes in the microwave or on the hob. Flavours include Macaroni Cheese, Pork Vindaloo, Fusilli with Tomato Sauce and Dhal Curry. Each packet of food comes with one single-serve portion inside, but they can be combined to make a bigger meal.
