TEN PIANOS STREET

#10 Pianos Street is a concert-installation for ten old pianos composed by Yae. It has been staged and performed for the first time in May 2013 at the prestigious Modern Art Gallery of Milan (GAM). #10 Pianos Street has been performed again in 2014, in 2015 and in 2016 in Milan for the Expo in Città opening ceremony, for the Pietà Rondanini Museum opening ceremony and for the Nuova Darsena opening ceremony, and it is defined as an emblem of Piano City (Corriere della Sera) and of the current Milan Renaissance (Reuters).

#10 pianos Street will be staged by Brera Design District with Eataly on Sunday April 9 in the piazza XXV Aprile.

The stage will be open from 11.00 AM to 09.00 PM. The performances will be at 01.00 PM, at 05.00 PM and at 07.00 PM.

The artists involved in the elaboration of the Pianos are Acme 107, Omar Canzi, Fungo, Piger, Filippo Scaboro, Ivan Tresoldi, Zoow24, with a special appearance by Vauro for Soleterre onlus.

The suite will be performed by the Scuola di musica Antonia Pozzi piano ensemble including Marta Caracci, Carmen Dattilo, Vittoria Faggiani, Silvia Giliberto, Satomi Hotta, Margherita Paolazzi, Ginevra Portalupi Papa, Lorena Portalupi, Francesco Villa. All the pianos have been found and reconditioned by Anna Bosoni.

Ten old pianos, reconditioned, elaborated by street-artists and positioned in a strategic location in the town, play an original suite composed with spatial effects and choreographies involving the pianists. One of the pianos is free: everybody can sit down and play, improvising on the sounds of the suite. The score is fitted for an ensemble of piano students and teachers and includes parts with difficulties from amateur to expert. If possible, a famous pianist gets involved as tutor of the pianos ensemble.

Out of the performances, everybody can enjoy the pianos; on the music racks are located the "visual scores" of the Yae’s Secret Songs, including Ascolto il tuo cuore, città (Listen to your heart, city) inspired by the great Italian artist Alberto Savinio.

Every piano is on sale both as musical instrument and as a work of art, and the amount is donated to Soleterre onlus.

#10 Pianos Street is a farm to fork concept (local musicians, instruments, production and charity project); it aims to exchange energies from the outskirts (the street-artists, the schools of music, the old pianos) to the downtown and vice versa (the production costs, the charity project).
