SHADES

Here’s SHADES that, after its concept presentation last year, is displayed for the first time with all its volumetric effect, an exhibition where the apparent third dimension of ceramics join the real one, with custom ceramic’s seats ready to welcome the visitors of the Milanese design week, animating the spaces of the Creative Center in Milan.

On the occasion of the official launch of the collection, on April 4, from 6.30 pm, architect Marco Piva, along with Casalgrande Padana, will show the video "Shades", a short journey within the project activities of the Studio, focused on this new collection. The collaboration of the architect Marco Piva with Casalgrande Padana has created SHADES, a porcelain stoneware collection that plays on chromatic variations to generate effects of depth and apparent volume on a flat ceramic surface.

All this derives from Marco Piva’s recent work with mixed media including pencil, watercolour, tempera, and acrylic, used to develop a new form of material on the surface of the artwork through the stratification and interaction of colours.

SHADES presents a play of measured chromatic saturation and tonal contrasts emerging from the material itself, an elegant artistic touch applied to a product with strong technical qualities. SHADES is a refined decorative process inspired by “material design” and applied to the ever evolving surface of ceramics.
