ATEENA EYE - FUORISALONE 2017 EVENT - SATURDAY APRIL 8th - DESIGN WEEK MILAN

On Saturday April 8th, as part of the Fuorisalone 2017 of the Design week, the new collections of ATEENA furniture will be presented at the ATEENA Atelier in Milan (Central Station-Caiazzo neighborhood). Entirely handmade by Antonios Skandalakis: craftsman, designer and founder of the brand.

Exotic woods such as Rosewood, Wenge, Zebra wood and Bois du roi combined with bronze, steel, iron and brass, but the real star of the two new collections is the onyx.

THE EYE

The onyx as predominant material matches a wood never-used-before for furniture, it was normally used as a resistant bulletproof material. Modified High Density Wood for Fagus sylvatica, from certified forests sustainably managed PEFC. A daring combination of elements applied to coffee tables and side tables entirely hand made.

MAINFRAME

Stands for clothes take a new look thanks to the contrast between onyx and the stainless steel, enameled with unexpected colors. Precious items that will frame your clothes. Complementary tables and screens, to separate environments, complete this collection.

You will admire valuable materials very different from each other, worked with care and skilled craftsmanship, to create timeless furniture, classic and extremely contemporary. Made to measure and customised unique items. You will also find some historical pieces from the previous collections, items that tell the story of ATEENA, its path. Objects designed for contemporary living where materials are in contrast with each other: decorative nuts of iron or bronze and exotic rugged woods. Furniture elements in Industrial-Deco style with a strong personality, that give your interiors a distinctive mark of identity. ATEENA furniture are moreover exposed to the Sinopia Art Gallery in Rome, recognizing thus those required qualities to be part of the family of artists of the gallery.

The ATEENA Atelier is at one with the Milanese style: simple and elegant, in a 1930’s palace whose interiors have been entirely restored and decorated by Antonios.

The Exhibition’s Curator is Eleftheria Gkoufa - Head of Exhibitions and Art Conservator at the Benaki Museum in Athens.

The vernissage is organised by Mantra Raw Vegan, whose philosophy is akin to the ATEENA spirit because of the awareness of the origin of the food, the principles and the high quality of the raw materials used.
