Sunday night. The end of the design week. Fuori Salone is officially ending in Alcatraz, a club near the metro stop called Maciachini. The event was called Beats'n'Cubes by Etienne De Crecy.
Etienne De Crecy is a very important french figure in the international electronic music scene. Pansoul (Motorbass), 1 Super Discount, Tempovision and Super Discount 2 are his most influential electronic albums released among other 30 EPs and 40 remixes. He has worked with Kraftwerk, Air, Moby, Morcheeba, Lil'Louis and Zombie Nation. Etienne De Crecy has successfully showed his live performances involving magnificent structure of electronic cubes in five contents.
The idea of the Beats'n'Cubes was entirely created by Etienne De Crecy and performed for the first time on Transmusicales de Rennes in 2007. It is a real life show hold entirely by electronic means without using the laptops. The DJ performs in the middle of cubes that are 6x6 feet. The lights and video projections are amazing for the audience to feel the mood of the music and have even more fun. And so it did, as one can see on some of the many photos taken this last Sunday night.
There were however, two negative aspects of the whole event. First, some people could not get it due to the fact that there was too many people signed up for it. If one just put their names on the list, it was impossible to get in, if one arrived after 22 pm. Another negative aspect about the event was the fact that it ended at around 1:30am and the crowd of people was left hungry for more music and fun.
