DOS – Design Open' Spaces: Unlock your design passion
For the 2019 Fuorisalone edition, from 8 to 14 April, a new district model is born: without a specific territory, but widespread in different areas of the city and oriented to the redevelopment of forgotten spaces, never opened for the public, in Milan Design Week history. The DOS project, Design Open' Spaces, created by the Re.rurban and Emilio Lonardo studios in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan - Social Spaces Development Area and with the sponsorship of Polytechnic of Milan - Design School, shows seven spaces located in six different areas "restored" and brought back to the city with a new look and new features, including renovation, design exhibitions and installations, a full calendar of day and evening events, ranging from live music to DJ sets, tasting tours and cultural meetings.
The DOS project, an organization from the synergistic collaboration between institutions and private actors, will take place in Brera, Porta Genova, Bovisa, Tortona, Isola, Sarpi and Porta Nuova. The headquarters of the widespread district will be the Dazio Art Cafè, one of the ancient buildings of the Darsena, elected as an example of virtuous relationship between public administration and private. During the Design Week it will host many initiatives: a collective exhibition of emerging young designers, a coworking and media area, a bookstore, live shooting, outdoor spaces dedicated to food and a program of night events with the best party crews in town.
