SMALL ANTHOLOGY OF ITALIAN ART OF 20TH CENTURY

In this small anthological collection Art-Rite Auction House presents, in the beautiful setting of the building that houses the headquarters of the Italian Private Banking Association - AIPB, some works exemplifying the Italian art of the '900.

Italy, throughout the twentieth century, has been one of the driving countries (economic and cultural) of world development. Consequently, Italian art in its various forms during the hundred years of the "short century" has represented a great open dialogue with the world. Because of the centrality of our country, it has been able to express its own peculiar point of view, with the possibility, even in the international debate, to be a showcase for comparison between Italian and world artists. Even in the Parisian hegemony before and New York after, the Venice Biennale and cities such as Milan, Rome and Turin made our country attractive for the greatest artists of the time, who, I play forcefully, ended up confronting "our art". All this has allowed the creation of an "Italian way" through which our country has been able to bring new solicitations, with its own and peculiar point of view in an always open dialogue with the world. From Futurist and Metaphysical instances in parallel to Cubist and Surrealist instances, from Poverist instances in parallel to Minimalist instances, through the various declinations and specificities of Pop Art, Optical Art, through Abstraction and Informal as a counterbalance to American Abstract Expressionism. From the Transavantgarde to pictorial Expressionism, the "Italian way" has represented, in the various decades, personal and peculiar responses to the great evolutionary movements of world art.
