宅 LIVING PHILOSOPHY

There are many interpretations for the character "宅" (mansion) in the Chinese culture; the charm of "Mansion" lies not only in its dimension, but also in its capacity to reflect the owner’s soul and spirit.
In brief, the Chinese mansion is a grand house that can simultaneously enclose "heaven, earth, people and spirit.”
Influenced by different regions and different cultures, the living spaces differ in functional layouts and decorative methods in China and the West, but they have something in common: they do not only nurture people’s lives but also enlighten and enrich them.
The living space is carrying the hope and future of life, which is the core of “Mansion Design”.

宅 Mansion Design is a three-years exhibition plan focused on living space design and it will be launched during the Milan Design Week 2018. As the first step, HOAA will present the contemporary concepts and artistic pursuits of Chinese designers for Mansion Design.
To celebrate the launch of the “Lushan School Project” designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, the exhibition “Lushan Projects and Selected Works” will be on show on the first floor of HOAA exhibition hall.
A selection of projects by Zaha Hadid Architects will be showcased through videos and models, together with project material related to the Lushan School Project and Lushan Villa Project.
