Superloft is an imaginary yet real home, curated by Giulio Cappellini, with the participation of the most interesting protagonists of the Made in Italy design and the masters craftsmen. An International home that could be placed in Paris as well as in New York in Berlin or Shanghai. A house that combines side-by- side iconic pieces by the most important furniture brands, in a synergy between contemporaneity and vision.
Magis on show at Superloft:
“Big Will” by Philippe Starck, 2015
Big Will extending table marks a new chapter in a gripping story, in which the Magis philosophy and technology, with its friendly shapes and rigorous production, meets the creative spirit of Philippe Starck, design star of indisputable fame. Big Will’s most striking and characterful features are its wheels – positioned at the extending end of the table – and the die-cast aluminium structure, which comes either in a glossy finish or painted white or black. The top is in glossy or acid-etched tempered glass, while the extension leaf is in glossy or matt finish MDF.
“Folly” by Ron Arad, 2013
Item of furniture or sculpture? Folly bench expresses both these spirits in its dynamic, flowing form, inspired by nature. Equally artistic and functional, it is made of rotational-moulded polyethylene, and comes in a brown colour reminiscent of weathering steel, which again is strongly tied to architecture and contemporary sculpture. Folly is resistant to all physical and environmental stresses, and features a cosy shape and an exciting aesthetic. It is suitable for use in the garden of a private house but also in a park or in a square, for every situation and season, offering a characteristic feature with a natural sense of harmony for any space.
“Milà” by Jaime Hayón, 2016
Imagine you’re able to do in plastic what is impossible to do in wood. With the expertise of Magis as pioneers in gas injection-moulding, we were able to make an expressive chair very rich in movement, based on the forms of Catalan modernism: elastic and dynamic. We created a truly elegant plastic chair, something to stand out on a saturated market.
“Officina” collezione by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec
Forging, the process used to shape iron, pressing it between the hammer and anvil, has a history that stretches back over millennia. Throughout the ages, this technique has been used to create an infinite number of everyday objects and decorative artefacts. The Officina collection of tables explores the possibility of establishing a new creative language while working with an ancient fabrication process such as iron forging. Following the tables, chairs and stools, the collection expands further with a series of accessories (from coat stands to a clothes valet to candelabras and mirror). All these pieces feature a forged iron structure, with the allure of a raw material handed down through the centuries, alive, with those slight imperfections that once again make each item in this collection unique, with a profoundly refined and elegant spirit.
