Simulate an earthquake and observe the effects on buildings to limit them, thanks to seismic engineering

Every time an earthquake strikes, it is repeated that "earthquakes do not kill, it is human works that do it".

The aim of the EUCENTRE Foundation, European Center for Training and Research in Seismic Engineering, is to study the effects of earthquakes on buildings, forniture, facilities and infrastructures to ensure that the damage is reduced and eventually eliminated.

The MobiLAB, a large "laboratory on wheeled" capable of simulating the effects of earthquakes on buildings, at the Fabbrica del Vapore will "shake" a shaking table of 5 mx 2.5 on which there will be a furnished room: visitors will then be able to observe directly the effects of a real earthquake and at the same time understand how they can reduce the effects, even with simple precautions.

Earthquakes can not be avoided or predicted, but something can and must be done. EUCENTRE works to ensure that our cities, schools, hospitals and homes are able to resist, limit damage and avoid victims.
