Giopato & Coombes research the subject of ornament and technology within the lighting field. The designer duo have provokingly questioned the essay by Adolf Loos "Ornament and Crime", where the architect criticizes ornamentation in architecture, considering it childish and usless.

Is ornament really a crime when supported by technological and functional innovation?

Their conclusions can be found in Via Santa Marta 21, where Cristiana and Christopher present three new lighting projects to interpret this theme.
