Spaces in the space

SPAZI NELLO SPAZIO shows how EDB STUDIO approaches the project in its different themes and scales, from industrial design to architecture and city planning. In the central nave of the Biblioteca Umanistica dell’Incoronata there are four new volumes – simple structures made of wood and textile – that change both the perception and the way people use this historical space, while maintaining the beauty of its vaults and decorations. The four boxes, placed long the longitudinal plan, enhance the four new products chosen to represent different design approaches. 

The way this exhibition has been set up shows another main strength of EDB STUDIO way of thinking: the balance between ancient and modern architecture. The latter is usually highlighted through the use of new materials, different from the original ones, and reversible construction techniques that are sometimes close to those applied in a set-up.
