The Light of Carrara's Marble

Within the innovative exhibiting project "La Luce del Marmo" (The Light of Carrara Marble), meant to illustrate the strong connection between light and marble, the most fascinating and noble among the stone materials used in construction and for the creation of design objects or works of art, FRANCHI UMBERTO MARMI presents ERODESCAPE.

The collaboration between the Company from Carrara and Kengo Kuma, the Master Architect of lightness, comes from the common will of experimenting new approaches to the use of the marble in vertical axis. A comparison between the Brand and the Architect result in a high-meaning 'sculpture'.

Precisely, the holes, the depressions and the roughnesses of Erodescape surfaces create a fascinating topography of what is eroded, in order to get a landscape in negative. The space is not realized with the addition of the stone, but rather wearing it away through very similar procedures to the natural ones, such as those produced by the water and the wind's action on the plate time after time.

Erodescape offers itself to our sight as archetype of both lightness and solidity at the same time.
