1935 - Two furnishings
1935 - Rationalism and abstractionism
Figini and Pollini, Reggiani and Melotti in two Milan apartments
... Figurative paintings can no longer stay on the walls of houses rational ...
This is the extreme statement thrown into the lake of conformism of the thirties by a group of artists in Milan where, from various parts of Italy, were agreed as evoked by the priest abstract idea, Carlo Belli.
The Bar Craja, the Galleria del Milione and the magazine Quadrant are the land where new ideas are discussed and compared with the various cultural movements of the time, where Mauro Reggiani, Fausto Melotti, Luigi Figini and Gino Pollini discuss painting, sculpture , architecture, literature and music.
In 1935 two young Milanese entrepreneurs, are fascinated by the new poetic and are turning to mutual friends Luigi Figini and Gino Pollini to furnish their home in the rationalist style.
The decor of the two apartments albeit worn and missing, was found still presentable today by the organizers of this exhibition. If the component "household" furniture may appear modest, shine the contributions of abstract artists Mauro Reggiani and Fausto Melotti, not isolated works, but inserted in their original and perfect vintage ambience that make it one with l ' by Figini and Pollini.
