Two very different materials, one precious and the other as humble as can be. With jewels in the shape of fish.
It could seem like a random assortment, and maybe it is; but everything is apparently random today, and contradictions open doors to new forms of knowledge. Unpredictable combinations can expand the meaning of things.
Gold inserted in platforms of plaster suggests that even the most precious materials are not so very different from the matter that supports them; the jewels in the shape of slim golden fish, or of skin decorations, follow the ancient credo of transitionalism, according to which their wearer did not thus display his or her wealth, but virtue and vitality.
The combination results in a virtuous short circuit: animist, scientific, heterogeneous; perhaps the time in which design drew order from chaos is finished.…
