PORTAVENEZIA IN DESIGN - Liberty (2012) is the fuori salone circuit that brings together the contemporaneity of design and art to the architectural and decorative heritage of Liberty style, that enriches this district, to make it more well-known both to the citizens and to the foreigners, visiting Milan during the design week. A double circuit: showrooms, shops and companies that show the latest design and art news, and, this year, a cultural focus on Liberty.

the idea. Design as link between the different realities of the circuit of Porta Venezia. Design as “creativity” applied to every sector. The collaboration between different realities – both commercial and cultural – that live the territory and warmly welcome the project. Some activities are developed together with those who work on the territory, such as the tour at the exhibition ‘Gustav Klimt - Disegni intorno al fregio di Beethoven’ (Spazio Oberdan), in addition to the sharing, such as some archive material kindly offered by Sheraton Diana Majestic, that I would like to thank.

The 2012 fuori salone edition is a ‘zero edition’. A common path that brings companies and operators together and that runs through the Liberty streets in Porta Venezia district.

Everything is virtual, online on portaveneziaindesign.com wants to be the center of the circuit, from where the communications are transmitted.
Visitors can download the map of the design/art itinerary and the book guide of the Liberty itinerary. Journalists, after registering, will have a short access to the press area where to download the material of the event and of the protagonists involved in Porta Venezia in Design. 

The press point will stand in via Melzo 7, hosted for the 2012 edition by Jannelli&Volpi, in particular by Paola Jannelli, who inspired and warmly supported the developments of Liberty idea.

where. Milan, in such a historical quarter, dense for its strong architectonic trace left by Liberty (la belle époque), a central zone that boasts important points connected with design, art, architecture and culture.
This is an area that offers, from sometime until now, single exhibition projects that attracts public and experts. It hosts important design companies, prestigious locations, historical heritages, private practices (not available for visits for this edition), period properties and historical monument, art galleries and cultural centers.
The communication activity will be developed from and through the website, media, social networks and newsletter.

The design and arts events will be communicated together with the Liberty itinerary, including the principal buildings of the Liberty period selected by Operad’Arte, a cooperative society with a solid experience in planning, organizing, managing and communicating cultural services.
The edition 2012 involves 24 realities, design showroom/shops and art galleries, with a focus on 16 wonderful Liberty buildings selected inside Porta Venezia area and by Operad’Arte, especially by Emanuela Biscotti, who is by coincidence also a Liberty lover and editor of the texts.

Milan is a hidden beauty. I believe it and I’ve always claimed it, and anyone who knows me will know that I have always tried to defend my city. Those who are not curious and have never had the chance to discover the buildings, the hidden gardens, to wander and be told by who knows, cannot know Milan and keep on asserting that it is not beautiful. Probably it is apparently true: less than many other cities that throw their beauty in your face. This is the real appeal of Milan: beauty to seek. Sometimes hidden, like the Albergo Diurno Venezia that conceals an amazingly charming Liberty heritage, sometimes granted such as Cortili Aperti that opens its door to the citizens every Spring with corners, courtyards, gardens and parks inside private buildings. An unbelievable astonishment. The heritage is huge and close to us exactly like the houses, buildings and courts of Porta Venezia, which made of Liberty its discreet and elegant identity and grow according to the urban continuous changes. nm.
