EVENTO: Royal College of Art
VOTO: stellina stellina stellina stellina stellina

On the second day of the Fuori Salone I decided to visit the said 'New Tortona' which is apparently Lambrate. Now, I have seen Lambrate area many times before but never notices anything that would catch my eye so I was going there and I was not expecting to be so pleasantly surprised by how the Design Week managed to make Lambrate another great experience! Once you walk out of the metro and start walking right direction on the road that goes along the railway, you will notice a colourful spots painted, or rather splattered over the pavement. And, yes, if you follow it, it will lead you straight to the street in the area with all the events. I found this extremely helpful and cheerful. Especially because the rain was pouring down and the cold was trying to get to us, following the colourful spots made the surrounding just that much nicer. There are several events around the street there. And although I did not have that much time, and due to my inadequate to the weather shoes had to leave earlier then I expected, I did manage to visit most of them. The first one I got to was very artistic and original. It was a label called Laikingland. I saw the exhibition “With Movement”. And I might just say that it has had the most bizarre, yet the most intriguing designs I have seen yet. As you can go through my pictures, you can see two pictures from there. One of a metal hand and the second of a candle in a glass lamp shade. Another place that one should most definitely check out is the Paradise exhibition of the art and design by students of the Royal College of Art. It wants to show the viever something completely different or “somewhere more wondrous”. In the description one can read that the students were inspired by the dissatisfaction of the present and the desire for change. What I really liked about visiting the Lambrate area is that it was much quieter and calm while comparing to the via Tortona. Also, I really like the fact that a lot of the artist that host events there are a lot about recycling, which is so important for today's world. It is much more alternative to the popular areas and hold much more artistic designs rather then minimalistic designs of furniture and interior. If one feels more independent, I would highly recommend checking this area out. Especially the two mentioned events. Plus, because the Royal Academy is based in the United Kingdom, most of the people speak very well english there and the descriptions are also mostly in english, which make international visitors' lives much easier.
