officinaBASE: "Learning By Doing"

At BASE Milano, design is not merely displayed and discussed, it is also practised and put to use. This is why, for the duration of the Fuorisalone week, officinaBASE is offering the chance to watch designers and artisans at work, including:  Alfred von Escher, Raffaella Guidobono/The Leftover, Davide Ferrari, Andrea Solari, Louiz de Freitas (set designer), and Gio Piva (costume designer).

The officinaBASE community project was launched in collaboration with BASE Milano under the vision and guidance of Alfred von Escher and Raffaella Guidobono, as a multidisciplinary production platform and shared space for artisans, selected for their stylistic alignment with the BASE project and its minimalist aesthetic.

There will also be opportunities to try out processes and applications involving natural and naturally derived materials such as wool, felt, and wood as part of “The culture of making with local communities and businesses”, the hands-on series of workshops organised by Unirsm Design | Università degli Studi della Repubblica di San Marino, Institut Industrial Design, Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst | Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz Basel and with support from the Swiss Embassy in Italy, Malta and San Marino.
