The 3D Bar
9-14 April 2019
Get a drink at the first 3D Printed Bar ever!
During the Milan Design Week 2019, Caracol will set up an ambitious and unique project of its kind: "The 3D Bar", the first bar completely 3D printed by an anthropomorphic robotic system.
Here visitors will be able to get a drink immersed in an almost surreal setting: the organic forms of "The 3D Bar" are conceived through a generative design process, inspired by the natural shapes of plants that fluidly develop and integrate into the surrounding environment. The aim is to show how an evironmental friendly design and technology can characterize spaces by creating an innovative and exciting aesthetic.
"Caracol looks to technology as a sustainable tool to create a new design language, a way to overcome all the technical limits and formal constrains of traditional manufacturing systems", explains Giovanni Avallone, co-founder of Caracol .
Thanks to the extreme flexibility of this innovative production system, every component of "The 3D Bar" is customized for the event and produced through 3D printing; furthermore, the use of PLA Ingeo ™, a biopolymer of 100% natural origin, recovered from the industrial processing residues of Flo Spa, fully connects the sustainability of the project and the bio-inspired design, in a circular economy approach.
"The 3D Bar" is set up for the entire duration of the Milan Design Week on the first floor of Stecca 3.0, the headquarter of Isola Design District.
