Mark Sturkenboom
8-14 April 2019
Dual exhibition by Mark Sturkenboom and Siba Sahabi
Atelier Mark Sturkenboom will present three new projects during Salone del Mobile 2019.
From mirror objects made from crashed supercars to a 50.000 euro mousetrap.
Four years after his first presentation in Milan, where he a.o. showed his 21 Grams;
“A sex toy that contains the ashes of a dead partner” (headline Dezeen) Sturkenboom will launch three new projects.
What a time to be alive is a series of mirror like objects made from crashed supercar doors like Lamborghini, Ferrari and Porsche. Cars that symbolize the current worship of the ‘nouveau riche’ and play with our thirst to posses.
These doors are all uniquely twisted by high impact collisions. As a result of excessive polish work they will take on a liquid-like reflective state.
Sturkenboom will also present Overgrown Bubbles, the result of his recent collaboration with Alex de Witte:
a series of glass bubbles overgrown with natural crystal.
Last but not least: Sturkenboom’s pièce de résistance: Sweet Anticipation, a 50.000 euro mousetrap. As Sturkenboom calls it: “An object that waits to be lived in.” It directly attacks your moral values.
