AGC presents “Emergence of Form”: artistic forms beyond the limits of glass capture a moment in the flow of time
AGC, world leader in the production of glass and high-tech materials, returns to Milan Design Week for the fifth year in a row with an evocative installation entitled "Emergence of Form".
Real heart of the project, “objets d’art” realized thanks to the creative contribution of Keita Suzuki, a well-known Japanese product designer. Cutting-edge art and technology perfectly blend together overcoming formal limits of glass and ceramics. Like the big bubble created thanks to an innovative processing technique that allows maximum curvature of glass, molded up to its physical limit. Or the three-dimensional artistic creation that reproduces ripples on a surface of water using BrightorbTM materials through a process that required meticulous simulations and further glazing and firing phases to obtain a ceramic object.
Patented by AGC, BrightorbTM is the real flagship innovation of this installation: this high-performance material has been specifically designed for 3D printers use and is a result of the extraordinary technological ceramic processing know-how acquired by the company during its 100-years-long history.
Exhibit Concept:
Using two different sophisticated materials such as ceramics and glass, Keita Suzuki has created a space that evokes the constantly fluctuating beauty of nature. While in the real world the scenery never comes to a halt, by freezing the moment the artist recreated a scene that recalls a sort of “landscape of the heart”, something which should be familiar to anyone: the extraction of a single instant from the constant flow of nature captures its own essence. Thanks to its cutting-edge molding technologies for curved and three-dimensional glass surfaces and for ceramics 3D printing, AGC designed an installation that captures a precise instant of a more complex and constantly changing phenomenon creating, in this way, a new form of "nature" composed by man-made objects.
A demonstration of glass and ceramics processing techniques explored by AGC: innovative procedures that are able to go beyond the limits of materials.
With “Emergence of Form”, AGC cutting-edge processing and molding technologies give life to unprecedented, harmonious and surprising shapes born from the designer’s creative inspiration. This combination of precision molding - made possible thanks to the use of digital data - and the natural variation which is inherent in human craftsmanship, provides attendees with a never-before-seen experience.
Through this installation, AGC wants to show the maximum expression of its glass and ceramics processing skills to designers and product managers.
Milan Design Week, an event AGC has took part in since 2015, is an extraordinary opportunity to present its innovative materials at an international public: from those designed for the electronics and chemistry sectors to ceramics and high-performance glass up to three-dimensional molding materials.
