“Arredo per vacche e amici” Art and Design exhibition for the animal welfare
9-13 April 2019
The 3rd edition of Valle dei Monaci Design District will start on the 9th of April 2019. The event is focused on the agriculture and nature of one of Milan’s most interesting suburbs.
In the ancient urban-rural Valle dei Monaci, situated in Parco Agricolo Sud, design, art and tecnique talk to the surrounding environment.
The main topic concerns the animal welfare with a particular emphasis on cattle and stalls. The purpose is to talk about an everyday and familiar issue with an alternative communication: art and design.
Locations and program:
- “Stalls: yesterday today … tomorrow?” collage exhibit: entering from Milan Nosedo Water Treatment Plant’s executive building. Opening hours – from Tuesday 9 April to Friday 12 April 15:00-18:00 / Saturday 13 April 10:00-12:00
The exhibition shows AmmA’s artists and designers’ response to stall’s architecture and farm equipment changes over time, trying to define how it affected the animal welfare. Artists involved: Clara Bartolini, Vito Giacummo, Daniela Gorla, Eugenia Scaglioni, StudioPace10, topylabrys, Ada Eva Verbena, Rosanna Veronesi, etc…
- Seminar – in collaboration with ADI (Associazione per il Design Industriale): Farm Animals welfare Milan Nosedo Conference room, Thursday 11 April, 2019 – h: 10:00-12:30
The meeting involves different figures, such as designers, architects, artists, professors, geologists, farmers, anthropologists, growers and veterinarians. An important opportunity to discuss about a topical issue which is strictly linked to human well-being. During this seminar pictures and design proposals will be submitted, for example: feeders, fans, beds, brushes, cleaning items for stalls and new high technological material for innovative design, such as anti-bacterial ceramics for birthing and milking rooms. After the meeting, “Stalls: yesterday today… tomorrow?” exhibition will be open.
- Design Contest Opening in collaboration and with the patronage of ADI (Associazione Disegno Industriale): Milan Nosedo Conference room, Thursday 11 April, 2019 – h: 14:30-17:30
Launch of the Call “Décor and decorations for animal welfare with projects and prototypes” for the Design Week that will take place in 2020.
- Performance “Artists in a cage”: On the lawn in front of Nosedo’s executive building, Thursday 11 April, in the afternoon
The aim is to consider the animal condition through the parallelism artist – animal.
- Final exhibition – Photo Lab for Kids “The Animal House… in the future”: Nocetum, date and time to be determined
Organised by Studio Pace10 and Spazio Farini6. It represents the kids’ vision and summarises their photography experiments in the darkroom. Photoprints with old techniques.
- Tour of MAF Art Yard – (MAF - Museo Acqua Franca, art collection in Nosedo Water Treatment Plant): Thursday 11 April throughout the day / Saturday 13 - h: 10:30
