The Light Gate meets The Creative Academy

iGuzzini illuminazione, an international leader in the architectural lighting sector, and Creative Academy, Richemont’s Corporate School of Design and Applied Arts, are among the highlights of Milano Design Week 2019.

At The Light Gate (via Brera, 5) - the new iGuzzini headquarters designed by Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia - the company from Recanati and the school present the exclusive exhibition, UN-REVEALED| Shaping secrets. The exhibition was made possible by the partnership with the Cologni Foundation for the Métiers d’Art and presents design objects created by 20 Creative Academy students from 12 countries worldwide.

Inspired and guided by the iconic collection of high jewellery, “Le Secret” by Van Cleef & Arpels – a renowned Richemont Maison – and by its own artistic background, the young designers worked closely with exceptional Master Craftsmen: Giordano Viganò, master cabinet-maker, Mario Dossi and Roberto Fumagalli from Fumagalli & Dossi Plaster Casting, to conceive a set of unique objects intended for keeping a secret.

The “secrets” have taken on polyhedral forms in wood and plaster, the chosen materials of these great masters, and are presented to the public as a set of metamorphic objects, each intended to conceal and reveal its secret. Sharing creative ideas and looking for new solutions means that each project is the result of a common language of hands and minds. The set of objects created for the occasion is revealed little by little as the visitor journeys through the maze created by the duo Zanellato/ Bortotto – excellent coordinators of the project and curators of the sets – and its unique effects based on light and shade, reflections and niches, curtains and screens.

For iGuzzini, this is the perfect opportunity to let the public at the Fuorisalone into The Light Gate, the new meeting place where you can discover and explore the theme of light and its infinite variations. Designed as a fluid and multi-functional space, The Light Gate offers visitors a new way of experiencing light: The Light Experience, a place where you can get hands-on experience of iGuzzini light, is divided into two distinct moments. At first, visitors are able to appreciate the lighting effects as told by a narrator and animated with sounds, music and images through an immersive experience of ‘pure’ light. The light then becomes ‘applied’ and interacts with the objects and matter to reveal the secrets.
