Key values

For over 100 years we have been producing bathrooms using the best materials and the best technologies so we know that every product is made to the highest quality standards. Our values: user-centred design, heritage, democracy of design, the standards we set.

Lightness and design
_
Design trends are like a pendulum swinging between opposites. We have been through a period of hard edge minimal design and now the swing is towards lighter and softer. This trend for lighter design is also influenced by a more environmentally friendly approach, where less materials are used to achieve the same functionality in products.

Simplification and personality
_
We are always trying to simplify and pare down to the essence with the products we design. This makes the solutions stronger but it also makes room for the person using our products to express their personality through them.

Heritage of design
_
Ideal Standard has a great heritage of working with good designers from Gio Ponti in the 1950s to Seymour Powell more recently. The common thread between these designers is the belief that “keeping it simple” and consciously “understyling” will produce designs that are easy to live with and have longevity in the market and in people’s homes.

Technology in the bathroom
_
Technology is already part of today’s bathrooms, even if we don’t notice it. Water saving solutions - like AquaBlade technology and Cold Start - all are technologies created to offer comfort in usage but also to help managing natural resources.

The future
_
Looking further ahead we think the bathrooms in our homes will get a lot “smarter”. Products will get to know us individually and cater to our needs and wishes. The water for the shower will automatically run at the temperature we like it for instance. Our ageing societies will also push the boundaries of form & function.
