Dektonhenge: craftsmanship and technology to shape raw material
With the Dektonhenge project, the Spanish design studio Apparatu proposes a review to the origins of matter and its work processes. An authentic proof of concept aiming at analysing and reinterpreting the handcraft production, with a clear reference to Dekton composition: a sophisticated blend of raw materials belonging to the building industry such as glass, ceramic materials of the latest generation and quartz surfaces. The calling to ceramic work, distinguishing feature of Apparatu, allowed the young designer group to reinvent the Dekton ultra-compact surface, subjecting it to a process of throwback to the primitive art of the manufacturing work. The result is a family of outstanding interior furnishings in which the harmonious dialogue between the two different raw material work processes comes to life, i.e. the handcrafting and digital modeling. An ideal ensamble to reach a new perception of the material culture.
