Exploring the future of the home
The Good Home project explores ideas for 21st century urban living
We are building a pop-up urban living unit for the 21st century. In an on-going series of installments it will explore what life for a technologically-savvy household could look like while they are (and sometimes aren’t) at home in the near future. We will showcase how flexible living interacts with the limitations of diminishing household budgets, limited global resources, evolving concepts of privacy, the sharing economy, and global migration.
For Fuori Salone, we will be showing work from 4 designers and running public workshops.
Projects include Privacy Dimmer by Peter Bihr, an intuitive way of choosing when we want to share data with our home and when we prefer absolute privacy. He will also be showing Home Totem, an object that accompanies you from home to home: You move it in with you to impose your privacy settings to your new home.
Trickle by Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino questions how we have ended up with a home layout that promotes water waste and how we can rethink our spaces. She will also be showing Home Sweet, a sketch showing when we bring our own data to a home’s data, and what kind of data service that could create.
Michelle Thorne will be presenting Recipes, a simple concept to turn everyday objects into ingredients that you can use in recipes to control interactions in your home. She will also show Internet Adhesives, an exploration of how to append the internet to everyday objects.
Iohanna Nicenboim will be presenting the Air Quality Birdcage which examines care and domestication inside the home.
Hands-on workshops will be offered to visitors on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th of April in collaboration with Casa Jasmina (Turin) & Studio Dott (Belgium).
The Good Home will be opened from April 14th to 16th from 11am to 5pm at the offices of Mikamai/Venini 42, Via Guilio e Corrado Venini 42, 20127.
