As part of the exhibit W - Women in Italian Design curated by Silvana Annicchiarico, IED presents Sofuto, a carpet and sensorial helmet all in one that was a Product Design IED Roma project designed by Silvia Gemma and Ombretta Valenti, in collaboration with MACRO - Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Roma. The project is the extraordinary encounter of products that transform and come alive with an organic simplicity.
“Sofuto sento” is a carpet-seat that inflates and changes shape according to need. “Sofuto leggo” is a folding magazine rack that expands into a display. “Sofuto ascolto” is a helmet with incorporated mp3 player that when opened envelops the user in an individual sound experience.
The exhibit also features three projects by Annalisa Cocco, Coordinator of the Product Design programme in Cagliari: Nido, a willow weaved basket and two glass vases, Histoire d'O and Atravès from the Toumei collection.
