Bud brand project has as protagonists a group of local Japanese designers. The purpose is to give the young designers the opportunity to express their designs with traditional techniques and materials in Japan. The theme for this year is “Redesign of Traditional Japanese Products into International uses” Japan had been isolated for several hundred years until an American ship had visited Japan about 150 years ago. Thus, Japan has very different products compared to the objects that have been used in the European culture. So, the purpose of the project is to repurpose Japanese style of life into the today’s international culture.
