OUT OF ORDER

It is difficult to be free and authoritative at the same time and can liberty go down to compromises with the authority?

In this cycle of works, Carlo Galli, shows us that it is possible, in art.

You won’t find disorder in the works of the artist, they are graphically and chromatically balanced, then you might wonder why the title of this show is "OUT OF ORDER". What is it that goes out from the ordinary and breaks the rules?

Analyzing the artworks you realize that the main character is a general, always realized in black and white and it is this soldier, rigorous and austere, who represent the authority; then you realize that there is another main character in these works and this is the color, this rainbow that alters the balance and disengages the order questioning that what you see might not be what it is.

As if the rational part of the human mind was represented by the general and the irrational and uncontrollable part by the rainbow, what is represented is in reality the conflict between mind and emotions.

Is this representation a mirror of our times or a hope of change? According to me everyone should follow the rational lines, admire the technique and perfection of it and then let themselves be confused by the color and by the emotions, trying to catch Galli’s message.

“OUT OF ORDER” recalls the works of Peter Phillips, Master of the British Pop Art in the ‘70s, artist with a constant reference to the mass-society and its myths, capable of putting on the same surface different images, with the use of a bright and excessive color giving, at the same time, great attention to each detail of the composition.
