RUGS KRISTIINA LASSUS

Where traditional craftsmanship and contemporary style come together. A very personal way
of interpreting symbols which draws on the beauty of nature without the boundaries of time and space. All this and much more describe the rugs by Kristiina Lassus.
An extensive and diverse collection in which the common denominator is elegance. Lassus’s rugs feature a graceful and discreet design that is still rich in personality. Made with superior quality craftsmanship, the rugs are realized by the skilled hands of Nepalese and Indian artisans.
The Kristiina Lassus collection of rugs are hand-knotted in wool, linen and silk.
Any minor imperfections are merely further evidence of their uniqueness and quality. Shape and content come together perfectly in products conceived with the heart even before the hands, to make our homes warm and welcoming.

Collection 2011 - Tibetan knot

These rugs are made in Nepal and are of wool, linen and silk.
Each phase of the production is hand made according to a traditional expertise brought to Nepal by the Tibetan refugees who settled there in the 1960’s. The wool comes from the Himalayan
mountains, from plains at 3000 m altitude. This wool is appreciated for its strength and softness and has a unique, easily recognizable appearance and texture. The yarn is hand carded, spun and dyed, which gives the rugs subtle variations in colour and texture; carpets made of this material turn even more beautiful with the passing years, as the lustre of the yarn increases with time and usage.
KRISTIINA LASSUS rugs are made in 100 knot quality and the pile height is 4-5 mm.

KRISTIINA LASSUS

Finnish by birth, Kristiina Lassus has expressed much of her creative potential in Italy. She created her first independent projects with the world-recognized Italian design houses, Alessi, Poltronova and Zanotta.

Lassus graduated in 1992 from the University of Industrial Arts in Helsinki (UIAH), with a master’s degree in Design Leadership, and further specialized at the Helsinki University of Technology
with a specialization course in product development. Lassus followed this with a master’s degree
in Interior Architecture and Furniture Design at the UIAH.
She has gained extensive experience in the field of product design, production techniques
and materials. Lassus was the product manager for interior décor at Silva Wetterhoff Oy, Finland (1993) and the design activities coordinator with Artek Oy, Finland (1994-97). She was one of the founding members and the creative director of Harmonia Plus Oy, Finland (1991-93).
In 1993, Lassus founded her own company in Finland, D’Imago.
Between 1998 and 2003 Lassus worked for Alessi SpA in Italy as project manager and as design manager in its product and project licensing development division. After six years in Italy, she founded the Kristiina Lassus Studio (KLS)
