Meritalia presenta un designer "particolare"...diciamo pure che designer non è. Ma è Lapo Elkann, uomo del gossip. Il rampollo Fiat disegna una collezione di complementi d'arredo chiamata Officine Meccaniche, dichiaratamente di ispirazione personale considerata la storia della famiglia Elkann-Agnelli. Tavoli, lampade e sgabelli trasferiscono il dna delle automobili e delle componenti meccaniche ad oggetti che mescolano piani in vetro e montanti in plastica, che ricordano una pila di copertoni o una molla. Si potrebbe dire un accostamento azzardato e di gusto discutibile. All'esterno del blindatissimo evento un nugolo di fotografi (e automobili-transatlantico in doppia fila) tutti per Lapo. Quasi nessuno sembra aver notato le tre "poltrone Senzafine", serie sperimentale di Gaetano Pesce sempre per Meritalia. Sebbene anche in questo caso il gusto possa essere discutibile, queste poltrone non avrebbero dovuto passare di certo inosservate, per lo meno per il pessimo odore del materiale plastico da cui sono costituite, ma Pesce per fortuna resta sempre Pesce.
