Piet Boon is one of the most talked-about and versatile designers/stylists of The Netherlands. Together with his wife Karin he runs a dynamic company which is one of the few that is able to design and carry out a total concept.
The long list of projects not only includes houses, offices, restaurants and shops in The Netherlands and abroad, but also public spaces for a large recreational project and a resort with beach houses on Bonaire The most exciting commission in recent years is without doubt the furnishing of the first non-casino hotel in Las Vegas for The Morgans Hotel Group.

At one time Boon started his own building company. His knowledge and background in the building business gave him an important headstart as a designer.
‘We only design what we can make’ is one of his principles.
This very knowledge and the possibilities that modern technology offers to communicate at a distance has made it possible to also carry out large projects abroad.
The strength of Boon is in the designing of a total concept where indoors and outdoors are in harmony with each other. But he also keeps an open mind with regard to part of a design or a totally different commission, such as his own limited edition of a Range Rover Sport and a Land Rover Defender.

A Boon design is timeless, robust and elegant but at the same time, basic chic with a sober sense for detail and style.
Modern-classic because of its clearly recognizable interpretation of classic materials and styles.
Emotion is important, a design should be comfortable.
Or as the designer himself says: ‘What you see is not a design, but emotion.’

Having an own furniture and lighting collection was a logical consequence of an increasing demand, from himself as well as from his customers, for furniture with the same clear Boon signature. Until then most of the furniture was designed as unique items for projects and were not available for the wider public.

In 2003 Piet Boon Zone, an own furniture and lighting collection, was launched. A collection which is very successful and which is now available in various countries worldwide.
All furniture of Piet Boon Zone has the same characteristics as the other Boon designs: they are timeless, robust and elegant, but also, and that is perhaps the sensible Dutch element, durable and user-friendly.

Since 2007 Piet Boon Zone also has its own fabric collection with now more than 45 different furniture fabrics. This is a well thought-out and unique concept that offers a great many combination possibilities and with which we feel that we introduce a different view on fabrics, a piece of ‘Designers colours into the Furniture Industry’ The eight main groups have been given the names of gems: Moon, Jade, Ruby, Bronzit, Onyx, Aqua, Tiger and Sapphire.

Discover Ocean Secrets by Piet Boon Zone
This years theme is called: ‘Discover Ocean Secrets by Piet Boon Zone’. The deep blue Sapphire (the new colour in our fabric collection), the introduction of the colour grey for our woodwork and the new book: ‘Piet Boon Beach’, are all linked to this theme.

The sea has been a source of inspiration for Piet Boon for many years.
‘If I think of the sea, then I think of freedom. Freedom in the broadest sense. Enjoying the fresh sea breeze on the beach and clearing your head, is tremendously relaxing. From our house on Bonaire I enjoy looking out across the ocean. The colour of the water is always different from one day to the next. One moment it's clear, almost azure blue, and a couple of hours later it's different again. The world under water is also fascinating. If you dive you are not distracted by anything or anybody. Your attention is completely focused on what you see and experience. The pure, clear water, the intense colours of fish and coral. The sea is a treasure trove of inspiration which you can draw from endlessly. The new location at Zona Tortona, fits perfectly in with this theme. Piet Boon Zone is a large, high space without daylight. Our furniture is particularly spotlighted, so that our designs receive the maximum focus. Not only successful existing designs, but also many new ones will be seen at Zona Tortona. We are going to make it a special event!’
