Pure manual ability and high technology of innovative materials: two different worlds which melt and live in the creations by Alessandra Angelini, an international artist, professor at Brera Academy of Fine Arts.

This symbiosis allowed the creation of “Chisels as Paint Brushes”, a collection of works (chairs, mirrors, polychromatic panels) realized with Tabu multilaminar wood.

A journey from art to the object, from an imaginary to a real world, through several experiments performed on wood, a material able to express imagination through colours and signs, through a careful study of forms and structures.

Tabu produces a high technology material, analysed and interpreted by the artist in order to find out its hidden expressive potentials.

For the realization of these works, Alessandra Angelini used solid woods with different thickness, composed of layers of wood veneers dyed, following specific chromatic scales, by immersion and then glued together.

The creative process starts from polychromatic solid wood, an ideal element which allows constant variations in relief and colour, and ends with the creation of exceptional pieces, sculpture objects, carved with gouges, chisels and other carving tools.

The artist’s work, always carried out with the study of forms and functions, created unique objects, real hybridization among art, design and technology.

A set of multicolour panels are on display and they perfectly match the objects: they are unique editions of original prints, worked following the ancient and traditional methods of Art Printing, realized on new bases as dyed wood sheets produced by Tabu, an old manufacture able to suggest aesthetical solutions, diversified and charming.

Art and industry, a dialogue bound to continue.

The great creative freedom expressed by an artistic production obtained only with manual instruments and following ideational processes linked to personal feelings, allows the creation of forms, drawings, chromatic solutions able to turn into objects, shapes and applications which are endlessly repeatable thanks to the use of machines.

A constant dialogue between art and industry, which Alessandra Angelini wants to carry on combining creativity and technology.
