In the last 50 years, “design” has become a term more and more common all over the world and progressively evolved indicating an essential aspect of the mankind’s future. Today it embraces a multiplicity of factors: from functionality and safety to the respect for the environment, economy, industry, social responsibility and communication. The designer’s challenge is to know how to coordinate all these different elements in a well balanced way.

In his thousands-year history, mankind has never been witness to such a rapid changing age, as ours. We are today able to think about our future in a more conscious and aware way, acting as a barometer of what is going to happen, not only in the matter of the next technological development but also in regard to the old generations’ ancient wisdom about the everyday living and the sense of balance with nature.

Timeless Future is an exhibition of works come up together over the decades as a Toshiyuki Kita’s answer to the interrogatives of the future.
