Laboratorio DAGAD Architecture & Industrial Design Research Centre
UMUL, is proposing this year, after two editions in which the reuse theme in the industrial design was discussed, to analyse another crucial component of design sustainability: lightness.
“Less material and more intelligence” was Peter Rice’s motto, with this principle he revolutionized much of the contem¬porary architectures. But it was also what other architects were thinking in several periods of the last decades, when they invented masterpieces in which lightness was becoming a pivotal theme.
The Giò Ponti’s Superleggera is the most famous of a series of works that many companies and many designers have created, the UMUL 2010 project promoted like previous years by ANAB (National Association for Bio-ecologic Architecture), will analyse historically and scientifically those products.
One designer, Dante Bonuccelli, for UMUL 2010, will eventually present a chair created in collaboration with LAMM that is aspiring to represent the last step of this historical path, the most recent among the lightweight chair of the market.
Laboratorio DAGAD is one of the labs associated with La Fabbrica del Vapore; they are a founder member of the Cultural FDVLAB Association.A research, documentation and study centre about architecture and industrial design, it has been an active promoter of exhibitions, conferences, workshops, and cultural exchanges with others institutes and universities in Italy as well as abroad.
