CITY SYSTEMS: PEOPLE POWER PUBLIC SPACE
Institute Without Boundaries

City Systems: People Power Public Space is an engaging display that illustrates the power of individuals to activate public space. Exhibitors and guests are invited to experience a graphical and textual narrative of a city at the individual, collective and systems level. Guests will also be invited to illuminate the message ‘People Power Public Space’.

This year, the City Systems Project examines the city at macro and micro levels, highlights mechanisms and facades of the urban environment, and explores the past, present and future of civilization as it relates to urban life. Through their booth at the Interior Design Show and a year-long project in partnership with Toronto Community Housing Corporation, the students plan to prove that collaborative design is the key to social, environment and economic sustainability.

The IwB was founded in 2003 by the School of Design at George Brown college in consultation with the Bruce Mau Design Studio.  It is a unique academic, research and development program focused on interdisciplinary, collaborative design practice with the objectives of social, ecological and economic innovation through design research and strategy. Central to this work are real projects of public and global significance that are executed by students, faculty and industry experts.
